If you live in or grew up in Union City than you know how we love Homecoming weekend. With everyone coming home for reunions and the residents lining Main Street for the Homecoming Parade, what better time is there to have a Community Day? This year it was especially important to the local merchants since Main Street was closed due to the bridge construction. The parade route was changed to be on East High Street. Community Day was meant to help the merchants bring the people back on to Main Street. Many merchants offered special discounts and had sidewalk sales. The chamber also invited local non-profit groups and churches to set up on Main Street to sell their fundraising items to the masses. Pappy, from the farmers market, was also invited to set up. |
