Parents Night Out

November 3, 2005 in the Hirt Auditorium at the Blasco Library will be a discussion on “Raising Resilient Children” presented by Dr. Robert Brooks.  Dr. Brooks will discuss in practical terms what parents can do to help their children become resilient and deal more effectively with the many challenges they will face.  Resilience is seen as process of parenting that is essential if we are to prepare our children for lifelong success.  He offers specific principals and strategies that parents can use to guide them in nurturing a resilient mindset in their children.

• Learn factors that help children deal more effectively with stress and become more resilient.

• Learn why some children from birth have an easier time developing a positive self-image and being more hopeful than other children.

• Learn the importance of one person to change a child’s life forever.

• Learn specific strategies for nurturing self-discipline, self-dignity, responsibility, caring, hope and resilience in children.
